Day 1: Hanoi Arrival.
Welcome to Hanoi: Vietnam’s bustling colonial capital. Your driver and guide will meet you outside the baggage claim of Noi Bai Airport and take you to your hotel in the city center. In the afternoon, enjoy an orientation cyclo tour around Hanoi’s Old Quarter then savor a welcome dinner at one of the city’s finest restaurants.

Day 2: Hanoi City Tour - Night train to Laocai.
Today you have a full day to explore Vietnam’s charming capital. With its wide tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and ancient oriental pagodas; Hanoi is an eclectic mix that offers something for everyone. Your city tour will take you to Hanoi’s key sites: the Ho Chi Minh Complex (Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and stilt house); the Presidential Palace; the nearby One Pillar Pagoda; the Temple of Literature; West Lake; the sedate Tran Quoc Pagoda & Quan Thanh Temple; and one of the city's museums (a choice between the History Museum and the Ethnology Museum). In the evening enjoy a traditional Water Puppet Performance – a unique Vietnamese art form hailing from Southeast Asia’s wet-rice culture – before heading to the train station to catch your night train to Laocai.

Day 3: Laocai - Sapa
The train arrives in Laocai in the early morning. Have breakfast at a local restaurant then embark on a scenic drive up the mountain to Sapa: Northwest Vietnam’s premier travel destination. Perched at an attitude 1,600 meters above cavernous valleys and terraced rice paddies, Sapa was first established as a hilltop retreat for French administrators seeking to escape the summer’s heat. Home to many hill tribe peoples, Sapa’s diverse cultures and seclusion give it a unique charm. Check in at the hotel (if room available before 2 P.M) and savor the fresh mountain air on a walking tour around the enchanting town.

Day 4: Sapa - Fansipan Trekking

Fansipan Mountain, Vietnam’s tallest peak, towering in alpine elegance above the Sapa hill station. Have breakfast at the hotel then set out on your expedition, leaving town and hiking through cascading rice terraces to visit many of the surrounding hill tribe villages. Stop for a picnic lunch at an altitude of 1,300 meters before continuing your trek to night’s campsite (1,650 meters ASL). Your guide and posters will pitch the tents and prepare a delicious dinner around the camp fire.

Day 5: Fansipan Trekking.
Spend an entire day trekking the soaring Fansipan Mountain. The hike can be very strenuous at times and requires some physical preparation. Stop for lunch on a ridge perched 2,200 meters ASL. Stretch your legs and soak in the breathtaking views over the Sapa Valley before continuing to the night’s campsite at 2,900 meters ASL.

Day 6: Fansipan Trekking.
The expedition continues as you ascend Fansipan Summit, topping off at an altitude of 3,143 meters. Weave through bamboo forests as we climb the steep path to the mountain peak. The hike is challenging, but the panoramic vistas from the “roof of Vietnam” makes the hardship all worthwhile. Have lunch and rest at the summit, drinking in the raw beauty of the wilderness. Descend in the afternoon and return to yesterday’s campsite for the night.

Day 7: Fansipan Trekking - Sapa.
Have breakfast at the campsite then begin your decent back down to Sapa. You take time descending the steep trails to enjoy the surrounding views of the mist-woven mountains and distant villages. Your expedition ends in Sapa with a farewell dinner held at one the town’s famous eateries - the perfect way to thank the local team.

Day 8: Sapa- Laocai - Night train back to Hanoi.
Enjoy a free day to discover Sapa at your leisure. Explore the local market and orchid garden, visit Dragon Mountain, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Leave Sapa in the late afternoon for the Laocai Station, where you will catch your train back to Hanoi.

Day 9: Hanoi Departure.
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning to explore Hanoi before transferring to Noi Bai Airport to take your departure flight.
