After that, visit the mystical Whale Tomb erected in honor of whales which, legend has it, protect local fishermen and their ships. In fact, when a whale dies and washes ashore, the locals drag it to the temple. A festival follows, complete with traditional songs and dancing. And the whale bones are buried at the temple for three years, then dug up and put on display. Inside this temple are the bones of a huge whale on display in glass cases which was found on the Vung Tau beach over 100 years ago. Local people and visitors come here to visit and pray for their health, business, happiness and fortune.
The next place in your tour itinerary is the White Palace which was used as the summer palace of the last Emperor of Vietnam, Bao Dai. The White Palace (Villa Blanche) was built in 1898 and completed in 1916 at the bottom of Big Mountain for French Governor General Paul Dormer. Nowadays, White Villa becomes a museum where you can enjoy valuable and rare antiques things which were found from a shipwreck in Hon Cau – Con Dao district.
